Britain's largest ever cannabis seizure
ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: Police who smashed a drug smuggling ring seized the largest amount of cannabis ever found in Britain worth 15 million pounds.
The find was made at a lock-up rented by Andrew Lee where inside lay drugs weighing over three tons. The haul included 180 boxes of cannabis resin together with a further 120 boxes in a van.
Cops believed the gang, including Lee's brother Graham, Robert Price and Scott Weaver, had been responsible for smuggling drugs across Europe.
In total they found 2996 kgs of cannabis resin worth 12.9m pounds. They confiscated 266 kgs of herbal cannabis worth 1.1m pounds, 89 kgs of skunk valued at three quarters of a million pounds and 10,000 pounds worth of amphetamines, plus 170,000 pounds in cash.
Price admitted conspiracy to supply cannabis and being concerned in the supply of amphetamines.
Graham Lee admitted supplying amphetamines, supplying cannabis and assisting an offender.
Andrew Lee had previously admitted conspiracy to supply cannabis resin.
Weaver admitted conspiracy to supply amphetamines, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and possession of a prohibited weapon.
