Car thieves dragged dad on a terror ride

ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: Three teen thieves dragged a 41-year-old dad on a terror ride while trying to steal his Mercedes before catapulting him into the gutter and leaving him injured in the road.

Ian Brayshaw faces 12 weeks in hospital with multiple injuries after he was pulled for several hundred yards at high speed as he tried to stop the gang stealing the family's "pride and joy" C180 version of the plush car.

His partner Lisa Wilton, 40, told how they had battled to stop the burglary in the early hours of Tuesday after the thieves broke into their home through a patio door and stole the keys.

The stolen car is still missing. A 16-year-old youth is in custody, arrested on suspicion of burglary and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Ian is currently in Leeds General Infirmary in a stable condition.

A spokesman for North East Leeds police said the burglars were all male and aged between mid teens and early 20s.
