Geoffrey Boycott releases his own line of headwear and cushions
ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: Legendary cricketer and outspoken commentator Geoffrey Boycott has stepped into a field of a different kind by releasing his own line of headwear and cushions.
The 69-year-old has built up a reputation as a straight-talking pundit since his retirement from the game in 1986.
He has become almost as well known for appearing on TV in his distinctive wide-brimmed hats and now fans of the batsman can copy his style by buying one of his signature items.
The former opening batsman began wearing his unmistakable headwear during an England tour of the West Indies in 1990 after being warned about the heat as he went out to analyse the wicket.
Former England colleague and co-commentator Tony Greig suggested he take a hat out with him so he grabbed a Panama hat before he went out and the trend began.
His straw-coloured hats have signed hat bands with three different colours and the cushions are available in any colour "so long as it's black", according to Boycott, who has around 50 hats in his collection.
