Identical diving twins get identical degrees

ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: This pair of identical twins take the concept to a new level after becoming national synchronised divers following on from their identical school results - now topped off with identical first class honours degrees.

Olympic hopefuls Helen and Carol Galashan will take time out of their gruelling training regime to become the best identical divers at 2012 to celebrate graduating on Friday in sports and exercise science.

The sporty 21-year-olds want to splash out to reward themselves for the countless hours they have spent combining their studies with their diving training in preparation for the Games.

Helen said: "We always had an idea we might end up with the same results – we got the same grades in the same subjects at GCSE."

The athletic twins, who live in Leeds, West Yorks., took up diving three years ago, and had previously enjoyed impressive careers as gymnasts and competed at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Seeking a fresh challenge, the competitive pair switched to synchronised diving to capitalise on their physical similarities.
