Rapist jailed for attack 22 years ago after being caught by DNA
ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: A brute who viciously raped a student nurse and threatened to kill her in a terrifying attack over 20 years ago has been jailed after he was caught by new DNA technology.
Sick Lee Martin, 40, now a dad-of-three, was just 18 when he pounced on the woman near her student accommodation in May 1988.
He dragged her into bushes and "emotionlessly" raped her, while holding a weapon to her throat and claiming he would kill her.
No-one was ever caught for the sickening offence perpetrated in Bradford, West Yorks., but after police reviewed the case last year they matched DNA found at the scene with Martin's.
This was on the police database after he was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and justice has now finally caught up with him after he was jailed for six years at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday following his conviction by a jury.
Defending, Guy Kearl QC said Martin, of Bradford, had previous convictions for street violence but none for sexual offences.
