Soldier who raped unconscious woman has been jailed
ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: A soldier who raped a woman who has a condition which causes her to lose consciousness has been jailed for five years.
Anthony Craig, 33, who has served in Afghanistan, raped the 25-year-old woman in her own home after meeting her on a night out in June last year.
The woman told a court how Craig walked her home because she was feeling unwell.
She said: "I stood up and felt dizzy. The next thing I woke up upstairs and he was having sex with me and I screamed. I was hysterical."
The woman rang her father who told her to ring the police.
Detectives used CCTV footage from the town centre to identify him. Craig, of Widnes, Ches., was later traced to Leconfield Barracks in Hull, East Yorks.
He claimed he did not touch the girl, but her DNA was later found on his clothing.
Craig was sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Friday after being found guilty of rape.
