Tributes to murdered mum and daughter

Tributes have been paid to a deputy headteacher and her young daughter who were found dead at the weekend.

Plasterer John Miller, 36, was arrested by police on Saturday following an incident at a nature reserve and a search of his home in Garforth, Leeds, West Yorks., found the bodies of his partner Sarah Laycock, 31, and daughter Abigail Miller, eight.

Tracey Lake, headteacher at Wheldon Infant School in Castleford, West Yorks., where Ms Laycock worked as a deputy head, said: "We are extremely shocked and saddened by this tragic incident and our prayers are with Sarah's family and friends.

"Sarah was a much-loved part of this school community and was highly respected by her colleagues and all the children - her loss will be deeply felt throughout the school.

"The school is a very close knit community and we will all pull together to help each other at this very difficult time."

A police spokesman said: "A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths. He is still at hospital receiving treatment and is yet to be questioned."
