Woman stabbed to death by daughter's ex
A pensioner was killed by her daughter's ex who wrote a chilling message in blood before leaping to his own death.
Carol Berry, 66, of Huddersfield, West Yorks., was stabbed to death after Sebastian Mercante reportedly jetted into the country from the continent in what police say was a “targeted” and “domestic-related” attack.
The 40-year-old attacker’s body was found in Manchester.
He had driven 30 miles and leapt to his death from the top floor of a car park in Hanover Street, Manchester.
In a macabre twist he had used his fingertips to write “F*** you Claire” on the car park wall.
Mrs Berry’s daughter was named as Claire Tootill.
Her 36-year-old son, named locally as Andrew Field, suffered wounds to his neck and hands in the attack and was admitted to hospital, although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Recalling Mrs Berry, one neighbour said: “She was a lovely woman who lived for her family. They were quite private and would keep themselves to themselves but they seemed a nice family."
