Workers left red-faced after 'BUS SOTP' gaff

ROSS PARRY SYNDICATION: This hilarious picture shows how workmen left a council red-faced after bungling their bus stop road marking by misspelling it "BUS SOTP".

Contractors committed the gaff worthy of Laurel and Hardy as they re-painted the road markings in Dewsbury, West Yorks last Friday, including double yellow lines and a large indicator for a bus stop.

Sadly, the latter was a bit of a non-starter as the team alerted people to a 'BUS SOTP'.

One driver who spotted the error actually did a double take.

Surprised Richard Richardson said: "My wife, Lyn, noticed the sign and thought it didn't look right. So she turned round and drove back for another look. She couldn't believe it."

Officials at Kirklees Council quickly ordered the blunder to be corrected, and the necessary work was carried out three days later.

A council spokesman said: "The work was done by contractors working on behalf of the council and was quickly rectified at no extra cost."
